Eight U.S. states have filed lawsuits against OpenAI Group PBC, accusing the artificial intelligence startup of marketing an unsafe product in ChatGPT.
The lawsuits filed by Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, West Virginia, Arkansas, Arizona, Idaho and Montana allege that ChatGPT has harmed multiple children and deceived thousands of parents. The states are suing the company individually in their own courts, said Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird.
