Verve, Nigeria’s largest card scheme, has revealed plans to introduce phone tap-to-pay functionality and AI agent-driven payments by 2026. The move aims to streamline transactions and reduce friction for users, according to Vincent Ogbunude, Verve’s Chief Executive. Verve, owned by payments company Interswitch, currently has 130 million cards in circulation.
