Samaila Zubairu, CEO of Africa Finance Corporation (AFC), has urged African policymakers and investors to prioritise physical infrastructure over digital tools as the foundation for formalising the continent’s informal economy. Speaking at the Africa Financial Industry Summit (AFIS) 2026 in Luanda, Angola, Zubairu warned that without investments in electricity, transport, and storage networks, digital solutions would remain ineffective.
